It is getting cold here in Berlin. I am really hoping for some snow this winter (actually, lots of it).

A new coffee spot opened up in our neighborhood: Selca Café. I tried their Oreo cake and the matcha – both very good! They also offer onigiri and miso soup, which I am looking forward to trying next time.

I was ready and fully prepared for Halloween – but nobody showed up at our door! More candy for me?

Baltic Sea reflections.

At Meeresmuseum Stralsund. This is the second big aquarium in Stralsund (the other one is located at the so called Ozeaneum) – quite remarkable for such a small city. Worth a visit!

At Meersburg. Very touristy - but for a reason!

We spent the weekend with friends at Lake Constance, where apple harvest was in full swing. There were baskets of ripe apples everywhere - and just look at them! Aren’t those colors beautiful?

First time making Mappa Tofu. Wow! I never had anything with Sichuan Pepper before - the sensation it leaves in your mouth is WILD. Tingly, numb, … unlike anything I tasted before. Can’t wait to have it again!

This plant just keeps growing. I can basically watch it get taller and taller while I work.

We celebrated the school enrollment of our daughter. We had incredible luck with the weather and could spend the day at the lake. It really amazes me that we somehow have two children in school already. Time truly flies.

Enjoying the evening with some manga. There’s supposed to be a Witch Hat anime coming out this year – the trailer looked great! – but I haven’t heard anything about it in a while. It’s September now… should I be worried?

After a long day at work, I thought it might be a good idea to unwind with some video game commercials in the form of Gamescom’s “Opening Night Live“ event. Well, the highlight certainly was there right at the start of the show: “Silksong,” the follow-up to “Hollow Knight” – one of the best games ever made – was on screen for a bit and the 2025 release date confirmed. But after that? In all the AAA bombast, not much excitement was to be found. There is a reason why I stopped watching these events: I’m not interested in another iteration of your annual shooter, the 10th gacha collectathon, or your free-to-play tank game. It’s all a bit… boring.

Seen on my way to the comic store. I ended up just browsing and not buying anything – the volumes I wanted were out of stock, and no new books caught my attention. Better luck next time?
